the mountain logged around turn of 20th century, , continues logged day. beech, oak , hemlock common species of tree. there several groves of white pine, planted logging purposes. logging mill located @ nearby fowlers hollow state park, turned campsite , picnic area in 1930s civilian conservation corps.


on march 18, 2002, pennsylvania department of conservation , natural resources called volunteers clean illegal dumpsite @ top of mountain, had been named 1 of state’s dirty dozen under state s forest lands beautification program.


on april 6, twenty volunteers tackled burns valley overlook site, removing tires , trash mountain contractors removing trash proper disposal , recycling. volunteers , contractors removed 7 tons of trash, 1.7 short tons (1,500 kg) of scrap metal recycling, , 402 tires, restoring site views can enjoyed.
