on may 9, 1920 dedication took place. 40,000 people, accompanied bands , musicians, walked 69th street dedication. 20,000 walked pennsylvania railroad station in lansdowne, , 65,000 more arrived motorcar or trolley 69th street. archbishop dennis dougherty , governor sproul spoke 125,000 well-wishers gathered on front lawn , along garrett road.

on january 6, 2012, archdiocese announced both archbishop prendergast high school , monsignor bonner high school close in june 2012, along 3 other philadelphia catholic high schools , 44 catholic elementary schools.
on friday, february 24, 2012, archdiocese of philadelphia announced archbishop prendergast high school , monsignor bonner high school remain open merged co-educational high school due immense support alumni , surrounding community.
