wigman gave first public performance in munich in february 1914, performing 2 of own dances, including 1 called lento , first version of hexentanz (witch dance), later became 1 of important works.
while recovering nervous breakdown, in 1918, wigman wrote choreography first group composition, die sieben tänze des lebens (the 7 dances of life), premiered several year later, in 1921. after career , influence began in earnest.
in 1925 italian financier riccardo gualino invited wigman turin perform in private theater , in newly opened teatro di torino. had several years success on concert stage.
wigman s dances accompanied world music , non-western instrumentation, such fifes , percussion, bells, including gongs , drums india, thailand, africa, , china, contrasted silence.
she employ masks in pieces, influenced again non-western/tribal dance.
