Music vs. musicality Musicality








tempo: slower music gives dancers more time play, more time style , variations. faster music forces dancers more creative in application of style, or possibly use simpler variations depending on skill of dancer.
follow: follow may mirror lead arm, feet, , head styling; or may opposite of lead, or independent of lead.
footwork: advanced dancers, footwork largely independent of body work. except needing move, foot moves unimportant. advanced dancers can kind of footwork. footwork open interpretation.
song structure: types of music have regular structure, experienced dancer can frame or moves around. example, chorus in swing music consists of 32 bars, follows aaba structure, each letter consists of 4 8-count sections , b letter has different melody. fourth 8-count section of each letter ideal time execute break. other songs have 6 8-count sections followed chorus of 4 8-count sections. in mood glenn miller example of type of structure.
