in central european countries (poland, czech republic, slovakia, hungary) there tradition of sprinkling girls , women water , spanking them easter switches . switches made of willow rods decorated color ribbons. polish tradition called Śmigus-dyngus , , tradition, goes middle ages. in czech republic, such switch called pomlázka meaning rejuvenator , implying female struck pomlázka become younger , prettier.
