history

in 1973 original communist party of india (marxist–leninist) cpi(ml) split, 1 group led sharma , mahadev mukherjee. vinod mishra belonged mukherjee s party, , burdwan regional committee broke mukherjee in september 1973. mishra sought contact sharma group, burdwan regional committee later divided , mishra denounced political line of sharma (a critique, amongst other things, called formation of open mass organizations, move constituted heresy in cpi(ml) movement @ time).


in 1974 mishra came contact subrata dutta (jauhar), leader of armed struggle in plain areas of bihar. on 28 july 1974 (the second death anniversary of charu majumdar) new party central committee formed jauhar general secretary , mishra , swadesh bhattacharya (raghu) members. reorganized party became known anti-lin biao group (whilst faction of mahadev mukherjee constituted pro-lin biao group). anti-lin biao group became known cpi(ml) liberation.


mishra served west bengal secretary of new party organization. under mishra s leadership new dalams (guerilla squads) formed.


in november 1975 jauhar killed in midst of lal sena activities. mishra became new party general secretary in reorganized five-member central committee. mishra organized second party congress, held clandestinely in rural areas of gaya district in february 1976. congress unanimously re-elected mishra general secretary.


reorientation , rectification

mishra political architect of process of re-orientation of cpi(ml) liberation. 1976 party had adopted position armed struggle combined building broad anti-congress democratic front movement. process further elaborated through internal rectification process initiated in late 1977. party study circles , party schools started central block level of party structure. theory of 2 line tactics started develop.


in 1981 party tried unify other splintered ml factions. party organised unity meet 13 ml factions form unified leading core . initiative failure.


the ipf

in 1980s cpi(ml) liberation began building open non-party mass movement (in direct original policy of cpi(ml)), indian people s front (founded in april 1982). nagbhushan patnaik became president of ipf. construction of ipf, through underground party develop links other democratic forces on basis of popular, democratic , patriotic programme, based on interventions mishra. although mishra broke dogmas of cpi(ml), never renounced charu majumdar s legacy.


in third party congress decided ipf participate in parliamentary elections. in 1989 ipf s rameshwar prasad won loksabha seat ara (bhojpur). in 1990, ipf won 7 seats bihar legislative assembly. special initiatives taken foe restructuring party , open up. ipf hold first rally on 8 october 1990 in delhi.


the asdc

in 1985, party launched people s democratic front (pdf) in karbi anglong district of assam won seat in state assembly. in 1987 pdf transformed autonomous state demand committee (asdc). sustained mass movement asdc sweep district council elections in 1989. in 1981, asdc s jayanta rongpi became mp in parliament. in 1996, asdc able send five-member group in assam assembly mla.


in 1992, after fifth party congress(held in kolkata), party comes out in open underground status. mishra re-elected general secretary of party @ sixth congress of cpi(ml) liberation in varanasi in october 1997.
