history
1990s

sri lanka s international debut came in 1997 3 match odi series against netherlands, lost 2–1. part of preparation world cup in india following month, in reached quarter finals, losing england. following year hosted tour pakistan, winning 3 odis first test match both countries. remains sri lanka s sole test match. netherlands toured sri lanka again in 1999, , time sri lankans more successful, winning 5 odis.


2000s

sri lanka finished sixth in 2000 world cup, , next international engagement against pakistan @ home in 2002, winning 6 odis. won 6 odis in away series against west indies following year.


in 2004 hosted inaugural women s asia cup, reduced series against india after withdrawal of pakistan. lost series. following year again finished sixth in world cup. in 2005/06, visited pakistan take part in second asia cup, finishing runners india.


2010s

in 2014, allegations of sexual abuse sri lanka officials surfaced. players apparently compelled perform sexual favours officials in order earn and/or keep place in national team.


on 2013 women s cricket world cup, sri lanka beat england in pool match, major upset in women s odi history. england world s top ranked team , sri lanka in underdog status, win gave full of attention in world cricket. sri lanka women next beat india women , finished fifth in rankings.
