after initial notice 34 cities, 10 cities requested rfp host convention: atlanta, baltimore, boston, chicago, dallas, detroit, houston, miami, new york , pittsburgh. of those, 5 cities (baltimore, boston, detroit, miami , new york) submitted bids, , 4 cities (not including baltimore) visited dnc during site selection process. boston announced host of convention on november 13, 2002.
