jifna located on slope of hill, standing @ elevation of 661 meters (2,169 ft) above sea level. situated @ intersection of 2 ancient trade routes, mountainous north-south route , east-west route connecting jordan valley mediterranean seacoast. in 1945 land area consisted of 5,939 dunams, 52 dunams of classified built-up area in 1945. today jifna has total jurisdiction on 6,015 dunams, 420 of designated built-up , 2,000 planted olive, apricot , other fruit trees.
the village located 8 kilometers (5.0 mi) northwest of ramallah , al-bireh , 23 kilometers (14 mi) north of jerusalem. palestinian refugee camp of jalazone built on jifna s southern lands , connected village road. villages of dura al-qar , ein siniya located adjacent jifna east , northeast respectively. other nearby localities include abu qash southwest, beitin southeast, ein yabrud east, atara north , bir zeit northwest. jifna connected main ramallah-nablus highway road @ eastern side of village.
jifna experiences temperate mediterranean climate. based on data nearby ramallah, average monthly high temperatures range 53 °f (12 °c) in january 84 °f (29 °c) in july/august, corresponding lows being 39 °f (4 °c) , 63 °f (17 °c). rain restricted winter season, around november until end of april. months receive precipitation january , december , annual rainfall 23.2 inches (590 mm).
