early career

born in jersey, guthrie began playing local football st. clement sports club age of eight. broke first-team in 2009, before transferring trinity in 2011.


accrington stanley

after 1 season trinity, accrington stanley took guthrie on two-week trial, scoring against premier league side blackburn rovers in first pre-season friendly appearance club. signed one-year contract league 2 side option of further year on 19 july 2011.


he handed professional debut on opening day of 2011–12 season in 0–0 away draw @ northampton town on 6 august.


in november 2011, guthrie sent out on loan conference premier side southport until january 2012 in order more match experience. made 5 appearances southport, scoring 1 goal before returning accrington.


after failing establish himself in accrington first-team, guthrie released alongside 3 other players @ end of season.


bath city

guthrie signed short-term deal conference south side bath city on 16 august 2012. made club debut on 18 august substitute in 1–1 away draw against welling united, before scoring hat-trick on home debut 3 days later in 3–1 win on maidenhead united.


guthrie made 13 appearances in competitions, scoring 6 goals before leaving club after short-term deal expired in october 2012.


welling united

having been on trial club in summer of 2012 following release accrington, welling united signed guthrie after left bath city. scored first goals welling in april 2013, hat-trick against weston-super-mare. went on tally 8 goals in 2 seasons, amassing 61 appearances , helping club conference south title in first season.


forest green rovers

forest green rovers signed guthrie undisclosed fee welling in may 2014. signed two-year deal welling s conference premier rivals. made debut club substitute in 2–1 win against chester on 12 august 2014. first start came on 11 october played full 90-minutes forest green in 1–1 draw gateshead. scored first goal club in 3–3 away draw against torquay united on 15 november, before scoring second of match , final goal of game. helped side reach conference play-offs first time @ end of 2014–15 season, appearing in semi-final matches against bristol rovers forest green bowed out 3–0 on aggregate. had scored 8 goals in 42 appearances in first season forest green.


guthrie scored eleven goals in 45 appearances in second season club reached 2016 national league play-off final @ wembley stadium. played 77-minutes of final, forest green lost 3–1 grimsby town on 15 may 2016.


colchester united

guthrie made return english football league in july 2016 when colchester united signed him undisclosed fee. agreed two-year contract on 5 july , signing announced colchester on 6 july. made debut club on 6 august in colchester s 1–1 draw hartlepool united @ victoria park on opening day of season. scored first goal on 16 august in colchester s 3–2 win on grimsby town. guthrie scored first professional hat-trick on 7 january 2017 in colchester s 4–1 win @ home carlisle united, , subsequently named in efl team of week . nominated pfa fans player of month award january finished third behind doncaster s john marquis , exeter s david wheeler. ruled out remainder of season in march 2017 after requiring surgery ankle injury picked during colchester s home game against hartlepool united, having scored 12 goals in 36 games u s.


guthrie made return first-team action on 30 september 2017 injury time substitute brandon hanlan in colchester s 1–0 win @ yeovil town.
