biography
early years

lee baker grew in watford, england attended watford boys grammar school. having gained a-levels in art, maths & physics went on read modern art @ university of newcastle upon tyne, graduated in 1992. during time @ university, baker formed , fronted first band, called cup of sunshine.


marbaker

baker left newcastle settle in brighton , here focused on forging career in music industry, forming new 4 piece band, marbaker. new band proved hugely popular on live music circuit. not long before marbaker signed chrysalis music , toured uk promote band s debut single hope find .


this first release received national radio airplay , accolade of melody maker s single of week voted band gomez. however, frustrated direction in band going, marbaker split , first album never made.


performer, writer & producer

after breakup of marbaker, baker continued perform, write , produce new material both himself, other artists, including mo solid gold , chung king, , tv programmes , advertising. in move away more soulful , hypnotic beats of marbaker, baker co-wrote, performed , produced clutch of club tunes under guise of special unit . successful of these sights on hugely popular on uk , miami club scene, reaching number 1 in pete tong s bbc radio 1 buzz chart in uk.


baker continues work , others; produced acoustic remix of hit single borderline michael gray , wrote score episode of bbc 4 s arena series, celebrating 57 years of bbc radio 4 radio drama serial archers — testament baker s breadth of musical capabilities.

baker teamed tim booth @ time ex-front man of band james. 2 formed strong friendship based on chance meeting in brighton led release of highly acclaimed album bone, produced baker , written booth, baker , kk (kevin kerrigan). album artwork created baker. band called tim booth , individuals , , toured uk , , received radio airplay, including uk s virgin radio , bbc radio 2 jonathan ross. band appeared on tv on bbc 3 , played packed crowd @ glastonbury festival. album, although highly acclaimed, never achieved commercial success, , band have moved on pursue individual interests. tim booth had small part in film batman begins , writing screenplay, notably james announced reformation in january 2007. lisa lindley jones embarking upon solo career, , first single firetime released in october 2006.


with james reformation, baker produced 2 new songs, followed james s new album hey ma, released on 7 april 2008. sings backing vocals james on hey ma , on not strong , additional track released via james website in 2009.


he producing follow-up mini-albums due in 2010.

since end of tim booth , individuals, baker formed new band, called federation. band has released debut album called don t wanna die , ep honey bee.


this morning

after loss of fern britton itv morning in 2009, announced holly willoughby take on position along full graphic, logo , music rebrand. baker approached rerrange familiar signature tune, needed updating after sixteen years on air. rendition remained until 2013 when new version premiered celebrate 25th anniversary year, though rendition short lived , baker s arrangement reinstated year between 2014 , 2015.
