the queen mary harp noted being complete , best-preserved of old harps. covered in original , intricate carving. forepillar or lamhchrann elaborately carved double-headed zoomorphic figure , instrument retains traces of pigment. traces have been analyzed , identified vermilion. decoration includes number of pieces of christian symbolism suggesting harp may have been made commission church or monastery. vine-scrolls , particular shape of split palmette leaves have clear parallels 15th century west highland grave slabs argyll area, suggesting time , place harp originated. grave-slab in chapel @ keills in knapdale has carving of harp similar in appearance queen mary.
