developed ansaldo in 1944 , designated stug m43 mit 75/46 (852) (i) germans, tank destroyer version based on heavily modified hull of m.43 105/25. last tank manufactured in italy after armistice, being first italian afv predominantly welded construction , not bolted. using alternative materials (concrete reinforced gravel) considered integration armor, instead built conventionally thicker armor (up front 100 mm) compared other tanks produced in italy.


the armament consisted of re-purposed antiaircraft gun, 75/46 c.a. mod. 1934 / mod. 40, load of forty 2 rounds. designers didn t have time develop specialized antitank round, employed normal delayed fuze improve penetration capability. gun laying manual on spherical support , allows raise -12 ° + 22 ° , 34 ° lateral tilt. armament included breda 38 machine gun 500 rounds, in practice replaced mg 42 greater number of rounds. crew limited 3 people, leaving heavy load commander acting gunner, while loader gunner / radio operator. semovente produced in eleven units (eight in 1943, 3 in 1944) , used german army. 1 or 2 additional vehicles incomplete or perhaps completed after liberation of italy prevented restart of manufacture planned 1945.
