Pontiac.27s Rebellion Rogers' Rangers



at end of war, rangers given task of taking command of fort detroit french forces. after war, of rangers returned civilian life. in 1763, rogers recruited several volunteers reinforcement of detroit commanded james dalyell of 1st royal regiment , formerly of 80th regiment of light armed foot (gage s light infantry). upon arrival @ detroit, dalyell talked post commandant henry gladwin allowing dalyell take reinforcements attack indian village near parent s creek. force of 250-300 soldiers of 55th , 60th regiments, rogers volunteers, , queen s royal american rangers under command of captain joseph hopkins ambushed, advanced guard made of men 55th regiment crossed bridge @ parent s creek. rogers men responsible covering retreat of force fort detroit.
