Techniques Gaze-contingency paradigm

parafoveal magnification paradigm: graphical depiction of parafoveal magnification paradigm (miellet et al., 2009). location of each fixation indicated arrow , corresponding display fixation represented. consecutive lines represent chronological order of fixations.

in language domain method has been used in natural reading. study of eye movements in reading allowed researchers map out perceptual span (moving window paradigm: e.g., reder, 1973; mcconkie & rayner, 1975), nature of extrafoveal information extracted during fixation, instance orthographic , phonological information (boundary paradigm: e.g., rayner, 1975; balota, pollatsek & rayner, 1985; miellet & sparrow, 2004) or relative influence of attention versus visual acuity drop-off in perceptual span (parafoveal magnification paradigm: miellet, o donnell & sereno, 2009).
