history

ktm/ktp1 developments began right after end of world war ii. these trams intended replacement of obsolete pre-war tram series. ktm/ktp1 kind of transitional stage between pre-war , post-war tram developments. in difference of majority of pre-war trams, КТМ/КТП-1 featured solid metal body. meanwhile, two-axle , intended use motor-trailer scheme. later on people refused use two-axle trams, , trams started equipped bogies. , articulated trams, multiple unit systems came in use, on segment huge ridership.


why archaic design features?

despite old old design, ktm/ktp1 tram not engineering mistake. expected use ktm/ktp1 tram properties, service-base moderately weak (the war detracted modernization of technical equipment in tram properties), use of more modern trams problem of them. of tram properties had worn tracks, incapable used heavier trams. time, two-axle trams work on lines moderate ridership.


the production

the production of experimental ktm/ktp1 trams began in december 1947 on tram manufacturing plant in ust katavsk city. in next year, plant started serial production of trams. production lasted till year of 1961, when plant switched production more modern Кtm/Кtp-2 trams.


usage

ktm/ktp1 worked in numerous cities, s why easier point cities, these trams did not exist. in russian federation these cities zlatoust, kolomna, kopejsk, kursk, leningrad, noginsk, smolensk, , yekaterinburg.


ktm/ktp-1 retirement

ktm/ktp-1 trams started removed passenger service middle of 1970s. in ukrainian cities of zaparozh e , odessa, ukraine, ktm/ktp1 in service till 1986. of them rebuilt service trams.
