the script developed children s book vicke viking (1963) written swedish author runer jonsson, won deutscher jugendliteraturpreis (german children’s book award) in 1965. japanese animation studio zuiyo enterprise company (later renamed nippon animation) adapted original version (1972–1974) , developed 85-minute-long movie (original title: chiisana baikingu bikke) series 78 episodes, each 25 minutes long. series japanese roots visible in styling , character design - led series being first unwitting brush japanese animation become anime fans later in life.
