behar started career in show business in 1980s receptionist , later producer on morning america.

she stand-up comedian , made appearances on abc s morning america , new show, short-lived lorne michaels nbc project. in 1987, had talk show on lifetime television called way off broadway , host on show live queens. there, continued work comedy club circuit, regular on nbc s baby boom, , had minor film roles including cookie, life, , manhattan murder mystery. wabc radio talk-show host, , made appearances on hbo comedy specials 1 night stand , women of night 2.

in 1997, behar became 1 of original panel members of abc daytime talk show view, co-created barbara walters. behar appeared on days when walters off, became permanent co-host. behar hosted segment called joy s comedy corner in presented both established , up-and-coming comedians.

beginning in 2007, filled in guest host on larry king live. on june 11, 2009, behar announced hosting own news/talk program on cnn s hln beginning in fall of 2009, titled joy behar show. did not leave view worked on both shows simultaneously. despite reportedly being network s second highest-rated show, hln decided cancel talk show after 2 years. final broadcast of joy behar show aired on december 15, 2011.

joy behar: anything!

in june 2012, formally announced behar getting talk show, joy behar: anything!, premiering september 4, 2012 on current tv network. content expected in line previous hln series. before new show s launch, behar began acting fill-in host eliot spitzer s current tv talk show, viewpoint eliot spitzer, starting on july 18, 2012. show ended in august 2013 due current tv being purchased al jazeera , being replaced al jazeera america.

late night joy

behar s new weekly late night talk show, late night joy, premiered on tlc on november 4, 2015. each episode features behar having intimate chats friends in new york city apartment.

other work

behar has made theater appearances in food chain , vagina monologues. behar wrote book of humorous essays , stories called joy shtick – or existential vacuum , come attachments?, published in 1999. has written children s book called sheetzucacapoopoo: kind of dog, published in 2006.

behar incorporates italian-american culture comedy.
