as of january 2010, exclusively high-floor muni trolley bus fleet included 313 serviceable vehicles, comprising 3 different types, of 240 conventional length (two-axle) buses , 73 articulated buses. of latter, 40 new flyer e60 vehicles (built in 1993–94); 12 of these retired in 2013, , remaining 28 retired in january 2015. of then-remaining 273 trolleybuses built electric transit, inc. (eti), in 2001–03, 240 40-foot units being model 14trsf , 33 articulated units being model 15trsf. suffix sf in 2 eti model numbers stands san francisco. these 2 types specially derived Škoda 14tr , 15tr use on muni system.


an order placed in 2014 60 new flyer xt60 articulated vehicles, system s first low-floor trolleybuses. 2 prototypes (nos. 7201 , 7202) arrived in march 2015 , may 2015, respectively, , entered service in may , september 2015. delivery of 58 production-series vehicles began in september 2015, , series entered service between november 2015 , july 2016. replaced 33 eti 15trsf articulated trolleybuses, last of retired in april–may 2016. these changes left current fleet 240 conventional units built eti (model 14trsf) , 60 new flyer xt60s.
