the cray house, located on cockey lane, complete example of post-and-plank construction known exist. john denny purchased lot j. stevens in 1809. denny, ship carpenter, used construction method in walls formed tenoning horizontal planks slots cut vertical corner posts. after series of owners, sold @ auction in 1914 nora cray, widow lived there 3 children. nora cray s heirs deeded property kent island heritage society in 1976, , house restored in 2004. predates town of stevensville, , listed individually on national register of historic places.
